CHIASSO PERDUTO is an experimental space for artistic residences and experimental research in the center of Florence, is part of the Palazzo Machiavelli and used to be the cellar and kitchens of the same palace. The aim is to open a dialogue with artists that results in a site specific intervention or to use the identity of the space to create projects that can go from installations, to performance, readings, events and other exhibitions. Our philosophy is always to create an interaction with the territory, to inquire about the position of an artist in front of a specific context, whether is the space itself with its architecture and history that already have a strong identity, be it a cultural dialogue with the neighborhood or the city and/or with the language, generating new codes that allow artists to expand their artistic research, perhaps breaking boundaries in terms of cultural constructions, techniques, of philosophical approaches and finally repositioning in front of a questioning of the conceptualization of the work itself. We are open to receive proposals that erase frontiers between artistic disciplines.
Francesca Morozzi An Italian artist and curator, born in Bologna. She is responsible for managing the production resources of each project and for exhibition design within the space. Her initial training was in Eastern philosophy, after which she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. After taking part in several international group exhibitions and undertaking a number of independent curatorial experiences, she founded and directed Atelier Castiglione 21 in Bologna, conceived as an interactive venue for multidisciplinary artistic practices and workshops. She later founded Lost in Dream, through which she organized art events and educational programs. In recent years she has specialized in exhibition design, a practice that led her to initiate the restoration of the space that now hosts the Chiasso Perduto project. Her approach combines artistic sensitivity with strong organizational skills, enabling her to create exhibition contexts that enhance dialogue between artwork, space, and audience. In addition, her experience in managing independent spaces has given her a comprehensive view of the processes of creation, production, and communication in contemporary art.
